We are going to take a small break from our usual article style and type of topic today to look at a really long list of weird science facts. Let’s get into the good stuff!

  • People with blue eyes have the same exact gene sequencing for eyecolor. This means that every person on earth with blue eyes at some point down the line in their lineage share ancestry.

  • The substances and construction of Doritos makes for good fire kindling. The chemicals in which they are made of are actually highly flammable and burn for a decent time period.

  • Between the years of 1912 and 1948 art in the form of painting, sculpture creating, and musical instrument playing was actually considered an Olympic sport. They were included in the games and people would compete in these categories during the Olympics.

  • Do you know the black boxes on airplanes? The color of these boxes is not actually the color black. They are colored fluorescent orange, sort of like hunters’ orange. This is so if authorities ever have to go looking for them, it will be easier to find than a box-colored dark. They can be hidden in the shadows or under objects.

  • The GPS in your phone and otherwise costs over $2 million every day in operational costs. This means when you ask Siri how to get to the nearest gas station. You are using a $2 million a day piece of technology.

  • In the late 1920s, the government actually publicly released a promise that airway lights would stay on on Christmas Eve for Santa Claus

  • There has actually been an airplane to successfully complete a full flight running on cooking oil. The airlines name was Qantas Airways, and it was the first of its kind.

  • In the animal kingdom research has shown that the bigger the brain inside of the animal, the longer the yawn they will have. So, if you yawn all day long every day, and really long yawns at that, this means you have a big brain. Are you reading this Chelsea?

  • In New Guinea, there are over 800 different languages that are indigenous to the area. This may exist as the location with the most indigenous languages known to man.

This is considered to be a chosen vote and it’s taken into consideration by the rest of the herd after they make their vote. The area that gets the most looks from Buffalo that stand up, hence, votes, is usually the next area that the herd of buffalo decide to move to.
